PCGen v.6.08.00 RC2 Released #facebook

Edited

The PCGen Team is pleased to announce that PCGen v.6.08.00 RC2 has been released. We believe this to be a stable version for the next 6.08.00 Production Release.

What's new for v6.08.00RC2

PCGen v6.08.00RC2 is released as a RELEASE CANDIDATE from our development branch. This is the culmination release that we believe will be the next production release. This is a Stable release. Please give it a shot and let us know how it works for you. Some notable changes in the 6.08.00RC1 release are listed below.

Notable Changes

Prerequisites

Java 11 aka Java 55 aka 18.09 or 18.10.

PCGEN 6.08.00RC2 is not compatible with Java 10 (or earlier) and it is NOT SUPPORTED. To get the latest version of Java, go to AdoptOpenJDK. PCGen has been tested with OpenJDK and AdoptOpenJDK Java 11 (including the JRE).

Be aware that due to Oracle Licensing, and lack of availability we are recommending OpenJDK alternative. AdoptOpenJDK also have JREs (Normal Java) for the end users that is not installed and may take an extra couple of steps to make work. If this is not something you want to worry about, then please use the WINDOWS INSTALLER version of PCGen, as this comes with embedded JREs for both x86 and x64 Windows OS's.

How to "Install" the real JDK 11 on Linux Ubuntu - https://dzone.com/…/installing-openjdk-11-on-ubuntu-1804-fo… - SIDE NOTE: Ubuntu made a conscious move to actually leave Java at 10. The work around is to use AdoptOpenJDK 11.

Also have you switched to the Advanced Sources dialog to see what sourcebooks area already availible? :)

The only publisher that told us flat out no was Green Ronin. Others have either given us Full Permission or OGL + Title only.

Also Regan made a Ponyfinder set for Silver Games that you can buy. :)

Yes, it helps.

There are a lot of OGL products that are pretty much available only on Drive-Thru. Some are actually interesting, if seemingly absurd (like the awakened-animal adventuring of things like Pugmire and Ponyfinder).

From the newest release (6.07.10 BETA) here's the "data" folder, with the relevant folders highlighted for who has content in the newest version.

There's also the "gameModes" directory, which is where rules specific to different settings/games live:

Does that help answer your question, or have I misunderstood it? :)

Just joined the .io group. I haven't been able to master listmaking for PCGen after some efforts, mainly because I can't write coherent code to save my life.

So anyway, if someone is willing to get back to me, I'm wondering just how many settings or rulesets are currently covered under the PCGen banner. I know that many publishers have invested heavily in paid datasets for paid software packages (you know very well who I'm talking about), but I'm curious if I could find out if there are publishers who at least don't mind having access to PCGen.

Re: Hate the logo

Uh, it was the only logo I could find quickly. I'm not attached to it, just figured I'd use it during our "testing".

I didn't expect an explosion of members... just Paul and a couple people testing it out first.

But whatever. Find the other logo and we can put it up.

Cheers,

Andrew M.

Andrew picked it, that logo was from a while back when we were exploring looking at a new logo. One of the users made it. My feeling at the time was that it was too similar to the Basic Roleplaying logo. :)
