Re: How to Reincarnate a PC?
Hi,

The saving grace here is there is only 14 preselected choices. The reincarnated creature gains all abilities associated with its new form, including forms of movement and speeds, natural armor, natural attacks, extraordinary abilities, and the like, but it doesn't automatically speak the language of the new form. It retains any class abilities, feats, or skill ranks it formerly possessed. Its class, base attack bonus, base save bonuses, and hit points are unchanged. Strength, Dexterity, and Constitutionscores depend partly on the new body. First eliminate the subject's racial adjustments (since it is no longer necessarily of his previous race) and then apply the adjustments found below to its remaining ability scores. The subject of the spell gains two permanentnegative levels when it is reincarnated. If the subject is 1st level, it takes 2 points of Constitution drain instead (if this would reduce its Con to 0 or less, it can't be reincarnated). When the new parser is completed, this will be much much easier. New possibilities are opening up. Cheers, Andrew

The issues with traits is that I can not select this as additional trait, since they are used up by the normal traits and I have no idea how to allow an extra trait. I did not question the class skill as such. basically you are right, I could go with a +3 only. Can you explain what a "GM award" is and how to get this?

Hi Paul,

Hassle and integrity. My idea is you trigger re-incarnate, you select the race that you are being reincarnated into to grant specific items. Race then displays as Human (Reincarnated Gnome) We can trigger stat changes fairly easy, and racial grants. Especially with the new changes in the formula parser, SET movement to new rate, assign new racial abilities and remove others. MODIFYOTHER:Race|GROUP=Reincarnate|Abilities|SET|None MODIFYOTHER:Stat|GROUP=Physical|Racial|SET|0|PRIORITY=500 MODIFYOTHER:Move|Walk|Speed|SET|20|PRIORITY=500 Completely doable. Old system, which I don't have the inclination to go about doing with the lack of clarity, utilize the kill triggers on racial abilities that should no longer appear. Stats are a pain, but feasible, and movement would need a make over. Cheers, Andrew

Hi,

This question actually belongs in our homebrew support group PCGenListFileHelp - unless the request is "Hey, can you guys add the ability to make select skills as class skills". CSKILL:Diplomacy Place it on a template. However, we have GM awards, and you can just grant a +3 to the skill in question. I have to ask, is there a specific reason it has to be a Class Skill? The +3 is the only benefit that a class skill grants (and only if you have at least a single rank assigned). I am unaware of any classes requiring a skill be a class skill. Cheers, Andrew

Re: Temporary class skills? Adding a class skill for one PC only
Joel Fischoff
There are any number of traits that make individual skills into class skills. It might be more of a problem to find one that doesn't also give you a *bonus* to that skill, but there are several that do it specifically for Diplomacy, like Ease of Faith. If that works for you, just create a new trait and add it to the character.
Here's the text of Ease of Faith from an older version of PCGen (the one currently installed on my machine), by way of comparison: Ease of Faith KEY:Ease of Faith_Trait CATEGORY:Special Ability TYPE:Trait.SpecialQuality DESC:Your mentor, the person who invested your faith in you from an early age, took steps to ensure that you understood that what powers your divine magic is no different than that which powers the magic of other religions. BONUS:SKILL|Diplomacy|1|TYPE=Trait CSKILL:Diplomacy SOURCEPAGE:p.4 --- I haven't done any PCGen coding in a long time, since I normally use Excel-based sheets these days, but I'm guessing it's that "CSKILL:Diplomacy" part that's important here. If you DO get a bonus for Diplomacy at the same time, look through the trait listing at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits and see if you can just choose the one you need. Joel

Temporary class skills? Adding a class skill for one PC only
oe.oe@...
Hi,
for a specific character the GM has ruled he has diplomacy as class skill. I'd like to put this into PCGen without changing all characters. So is there a way to add a skill to the list of class skills temporarily? I am able to homebrew a temporary +3 condition but that does not make it a class skill. Any idea how and where to add a class skill to one PCs list?

Re: Where are the outputsheet headlines to be found?
Hi,

The statsandchecks.lst file in the gameModes folder or if 6.06.00, the base rule book which would be x__stats.lst and x__saves.lst. I do not believe OUTPUTNAME will work there, but you can try. The cmb block is hardcoded terms the blocks should be in the weapons block. If you want specific code, you should either hit the experimental or international groups. International is better for the language support. Though we are slowly working towards proper support. Cheers, Andrew

PCGen will easily switch races.

I can easily make Reincarnate work without changing your base Race. It sounds like you just need a specific hardcoded setup and not the proper system built that would be required if I was to do this for pcgen. So good news, you will need to make a single template. However, this group is about answering questions, not about giving actual lst code samples. We need to move this conversation to the proper venue for that. We can move to simple email, you can post on listfilehelp, or the homebrew forum over at groups.pcgen.org. I am easy, plenty of options. Cheers, Andrew

Ow, my head hurts trying to keep straight what you keep, and what you'd lose. Been thinking overnight. What I most need is guidance and advice on how to amend an existing character, and what support I can get from the PCGen program (and where, if anywhere, it makes life difficult). Things I want to make work, and am happy to rule on include * was Human: keep the initial Feat (per a DM (me!) decision) and the +1 SP/level up to current level - the Skills are life experiences like Class training. * was Elf: keep the weapon proficiencies (from time as youth) * become Halfling: do *not* gain racial weapon proficiencies (no youth time) * lose bodily functions (movement, low-light vision, darkvision, energy resistance), and gain new ones. My thought overnight is: * since both races (whichever they are) are Standard Races - no weird properties * I can take the relevant properties from each and make a "Elf-to-Halfling reincarnated" one-off race. * I can either create a proper Race in LST, or use the ARG Race Builder * all the bog-standard races can be coded in the ARG, and the point cost illustrates how neutral the re-build is. * the ARG will bypass any built-in Racial HD (e.g. reincarnate as Bugbear) * ARG won't know how to cope if I reincarnate a spirit which started life as a Bugbear. So how tolerant is PCGen at taking an 8th level character and removing one race and adding another?

Can you explain what you mean with "stat file"? Is there any way to translate the stats, saves?
And: I also couldnt find the term "Melee" anywhere. Where would I need to go to translate this (the melee, ranged, cmb block below the saves block)?

Thanks. I now added translations via a homebrew file with .MOD.
Two follow up questions: a) Is there any way to translate a special subversion? I currently get a nice translated output for Acrobatics, but the added line Acrobatics (Jump) just transltes the "Acrobatics" again and I have no idea how to translate the "Jump" part. b) Is there a way to sort the output skills by their outputname?

Hi,

You need to be specific, since there is a major reason for the "appearance" of redundancy. The stat block is not hardcoded into the sheets, the stat names are taken from the stat file and directly imported, same with the checks/saves. Cheers, Andrew

Yes, currently OUTPUTNAME will work with a SkillName.MOD to display your change. Be advised, a lot changes during the next nine months for that though. Cheers, Andrew
